In keeping with my tradition (this is the 4th year!) of putting up an "Ave Maria" for the month of May, traditionally dedicated to Our Lady, this time in a flurry of ambition I chose the gorgeous choral setting of German composer Franz Biebl (1906-2001). As Mother's Day approaches this Sunday, I hope it reminds you of the beauty of our Mother Mary, without whose "yes" to God's plan we would not have our Savior Jesus Christ. God bless you, and Happy Mother’s Day to all of our mothers!!
Latin text : Ave Maria, gratia plena Dominus tecum Benedicta tu in mulieribus ; Et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Jesus ! Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, Ora pro nobis, peccatoribus, Nunc, et in ora mortis nostræ. Amen.
English : Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.
